Straight answers about working with Adam, what a fractional CMO actually does, and whether AI can help your business.

What does a fractional CMO actually do for a small business?+
A fractional CMO provides senior-level marketing leadership on a part-time basis — without the cost of a full-time executive hire. You get strategic oversight of brand, digital presence, lead generation, and marketing operations from someone with 15+ years of experience, including management of six-figure marketing budgets, vendor networks, and cross-functional teams. The thinking, the accountability, and the results — at a fraction of the overhead.
What makes an "embedded" advisor different from a consultant?+
A traditional consultant delivers a report and leaves. An embedded advisor works inside your business over time — attending meetings, building alongside your team, and taking real ownership of outcomes. I don't hand you a strategy deck and wish you luck. I stay in the room until the systems are running and the results are visible.
Can AI actually help my Wilmington small business grow?+
Yes — but not the way most people think. The businesses winning with AI are using it to build automated systems: lead nurture sequences that run on their own, content pipelines that don't require a full-time writer, CRM workflows that follow up without anyone clicking send. The opportunity is real — and early enough that businesses that move first will have a structural advantage.
Do you only work with real estate businesses?+
No — real estate is one of my deepest areas of expertise, but I work with a range of owner-operated small businesses including health and wellness practices, professional service firms, fintech companies, and local entrepreneurs. The common thread: owner-operated, want to grow without chaos, open to AI and systems.
What is the Leverage Audit and how does it work?+
A focused half-day working session — in person in Wilmington or remote — where we map exactly where your business is losing time and attention. We look at your marketing, operations, tech stack, and priorities and identify the highest-leverage moves you can make with the resources you already have. You walk away with a prioritized action plan and specific AI recommendations.
How do engagements work and what do they cost?+
Every engagement is scoped individually. Fractional CMO engagements typically run 8 to 20 hours per month on a retainer basis. The Leverage Audit is a flat-rate half-day session and is often the best starting point for new clients. I don't do one-size-fits-all pricing because the work isn't one-size-fits-all.
Do you work with businesses outside of Wilmington?+
Yes. Much of my career was built in the Boston area and Los Angeles. I now focus primarily on the Wilmington and greater Cape Fear region while working with clients remotely across the country — particularly in real estate, fintech, and owner-operated small businesses. If the fit is right, geography isn't a barrier.
What is MicroVentureLab?+
MicroVentureLab is Adam's Wilmington-based venture studio. It operates through three pillars: Build (Adam's own ventures), Co-Build (shared ownership with founders), and Partner (sweat equity with established Wilmington businesses using AI, marketing, and operations). Rather than building one big company, MicroVentureLab creates a portfolio of smaller, highly efficient businesses that each generate meaningful revenue without requiring massive teams.
